Requirements for Renunciation of Nigerian Citizenship (Under The Section 29 of The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria As Amended):

  • Evidence of Citizenship in the new country.

Requirements For Confirmation of Marriage Certificate:

  • A Formal Letter Application
  • Current Passport Photograph Of Husband
  • Current passport Photograph Of Wife
  • International Passport Data Page Of Husband
  • International Passport Data Page Of Wife
  • Letter Of Attestation Of Marriage By Either Husband Or Wife
  • Current Federal Government Identification Which Indicates Residential Address
  • Current Identity Issued By Government Of Foreign Residence Showing Current Residential Address (Translate To English If Applicable)
  • Pictures Taken As At The Time Of Marriage
  • Any Other Documents That May Attest To The Authenticity Of The Marriage

Requirements for Attestation of Marital status:

  • Written application duly signed by the applicant.
  • Evidence of payment.
  • Birth certificate or attestation of birth from National Population Commission.
  • Certificate of local government origin with passport photographs.
  • Scanned copy of data page of International passport.
  • Government issued identity card of intended foreign spouse with embedded photograph.
  • Government issued document showing application to marry by a recognized institution in foreign country.
  • Copy of law of foreign country that states that attestation of non-marital status from country of origin is required.
  • Notarized letter from Local Government of origin affirming applicant is known to Local Government and has not been married according to their records or is validly divorced or a widow/widower (Death Certificate or Decree of Divorce to be attached as applicable).
  • Affidavit of non-marital status deposed to by applicant before an authorized official in the foreign country or by a senior Foreign Affairs serving at the nearest Nigerian Embassy or High Commission.
  • Notarized letters from parent or other senior family member confirming that applicant has not been married before or is validly divorced, or is a widow/widower (Death Certificate or Decree of Divorce to be attached as applicable).
  • Passport photo of both applicant and spouse.
  • Full length colour pictures of both applicant and spouse.
  • Full address of applicant that corresponds with address on ID card issued by foreign Government.
  • Valid email addresses and phone number of applicant and spouse in foreign country of residence.
  • Sworn affidavit of marital status from high court.
    • i. Curriculum vitae.
    • ii. Identify cards e.g Driver’s License or passport, National identify card etc. (scanned copy)

Requirements for Acquiring Citizenship by Investment:

  • Written application duly signed by applicant.
  • The applicant must not possess acquired dual citizenship or come from a country that does not allow dual citizenship with Nigeria.
  • Must take oath of allegiance to Nigeria and support to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  • Must undertake a Frame Agreement with Nigeria in form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
  • Must satisfy the residence requirements. Applicant must show evidence of previous visit to Nigeria.
  • Must show Police report from countries which the applicant was resident in the last five (5) years e showing clean criminal records.
  • Evidence of required amount for investment which must be a minimum of $1,000,000.00.
  • Must show documentary prove of proposed investment in Nigeria.
  • Must provide evidence of good mental and physical health.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak basic English language.
  • Applicant should understand basic fundamental history of Nigeria and Be economically self-sufficient.
