eCitibiz - MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE RE-ISSUANCE

This is applicable to couples who got married not in line with the provision of the Marriage Act (2004) and wish to obtain the Federal Marriage Certificate in accordance to the MARRIAGE ACT, CAP M6, VOLUME 8, LAW OF THE FEDERATION OF NIGERIA (2004). The re-issuance of your marriage certificate would grant you the following
  • Recognition of your marriage under the law, MARRIAGE ACT, CAP M6, VOLUME 8, LAW OF THE FEDERATION OF NIGERIA (2004).
  • Express recognition of your marriage certificate for Embassy Visa interviews and Immigration purposes.
  • Identification number of your marriage certificate secured in the National Database.
  • National Identification number per couple
  • Recognition of your marriage certificate to access Federal Government of Nigeria services
The cost per couple for this service is ₦10,000

eCitibiz - WORSHIP RE-CERTIFICATION

This Re-Certification is applicable to all Places of Worship previously licensed by the Local Government Area (LGA) in Nigeria. With this Re-Certification your Place of Worship will now be licensed by the Ministry of Interior to conduct Legal marriages in line with the Marriage Act, CAP M6 Law of the Federation of Nigeria (2004) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The cost per Place of Worship is ₦3O,000

GUIDELINES FOR GRANT/RENEWAL OF LICENCES FOR PLACES OF WORSHIP AND RENEWAL OF EXPATRIATE QUOTAS FOR ORGANISATIONS

In line with the Marriage Act, Cap 6 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and in accordance with Official Gazette Notices on Marriage Nos. 64-68 dated 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th and 16th April 2021, the Citizenship and Business Department of the Ministry of Interior hereby announces the commencement of   the inspection of places of worship and organisations requesting for Expatriate Quotas, issuance of Licences to conduct Statutory Marriages as well as renewal of existing ones.

 

2. Accordingly, all Administrators, Registrars and Representatives of places of worship are to note that the previous fees underlisted below are still valid:

 

Fees for original Grant/Renewal of Licences

  1. Issuance of new Licence - N30,000.00 for five (5) years;
  2. Renewal of existing License -  N15,000.00 for 3 years

3. All places of worship and companies that have applied for grant/renewal of licenses and renewal of expatriate quotas shall pay mandatory inspection fee renewable after 3 years based on their locations as highlighted hereunder:

Inspection Fees

  1. Fees for out of State inspection for Business organisations, Public places of worship and Local Government Marriage Registries that required flight and overnight stay  - 150,000.00
  2. Fees for inspection in State or out of State without flight but require overnight stay - N80,000.00  
  3. Fees for in-state and neighbouring states inspection that do not require a flight or overnight stay - N45,000.00
  4. Fee for Registration and Documentation of Local Government Registrars - N10,000.00
  5. Issuance of Certificates of Appointment for Local Government Registrars   - N10,000.00

 

 4.  After inspection, approved places of worship shall purchase Marriage Certificates on   

pre-paid basis. Each Marriage Certificate costs N15,000 and are packaged as follows:

  1. Booklet of 5 pages costs N75, 000.00 (i.e N15,000 x 5 Certificates)
  2. Booklet of 25 pages costs N375, 000.00 (i.e N15,000 x 25 Certificates)
  3. Contact the e-CITIBIZ call centre for details on delivery of the certificates

 

 

Payment Process

6.  Public places of worship and organisations should log on to www.ecitibiz.interior.gov.ng in order to make payments for the above services.

  2. Operating hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm

DISCLAIMER
  1. Users are mandated to update their company details with the correct official email address and phone numbers of the company to enable them receive updates on their application from the Ministry of Interior.  

  2. Please, note that your application shall ONLY be considered to have been submitted when all the requirements are duly provided. The timeline for the processing begins when your application is completely uploaded with genuine supportive documents and verified by the briefing officer. 

  3. Your application will be QUERIED, if there is any problem with your application, and you are expected to respond to the query within 72 hours from the time the query is issued.

  4. Failure to respond within the deadline given shall result in the application being denied and invalidated. Consequently, applicant shall have to submit a fresh application and make corresponding payments.
